The Salem Choral Society was founded on September 11, 2001 by past Music Director Aaron Garber who placed an advertisement in the newspaper for singers to join the choir.  Many charter members are still a part of the group as we enter our 15th Season!

In addition to his role as music director, Garber is also a conductor and composer and the choir had the pleasure of performing several of his works.  Garber teamed with librettist Richard Bansemer to create several oratorios; "Job",  "Jesus, Son of Our Father" and "Mary, Mother of Jesus".  The works were performed with full orchestra and featured soloists.  "Mary, Mother of Jesus" was first performed in 2006 and recently brought back to the stage in March 2015.    The closing concert for the 14th season was Aaron Garber's final performance with the group as we sang at the National D-Day Memorial Stars & Stripes Forever Patriotic Concert, an annual event for the Chorus.  Mr. Garber has retired to pursue his love of composing. We would like to Thank Aaron for his musical leadership.

During our history the Chorus has been invited to sing at Carnegie Hall on three occasions and perform at various locations through out the valley, including Olin Hall and The Jefferson Center.  Our group's repertoire is quite diverse and has included many great works such as "Carmina Burana" to lighter fare like concert themes; "Great Love Songs of the 20th Century". The Chorus enjoys performing at many different venues and has been invited to sing the National Anthem for the ODAC games for several years.
